Swim Safe sessions are delivered by Bluetonic, a charity dedicated to encouraging people to be active in, on, or around blue spaces. Through a wide range of activities, Bluetonic supports people's physical and mental wellbeing. You can find out more about the charity at www.bluetonic.org.uk.

We are delighted to be working with The New Bath Hotel & Spa to offer Swim Safe sessions at this unique and historic venue.

About the Venue

The outdoor lido at The New Bath Hotel & Spa is a rare and historic gem, first opened in 1934 during the golden age of outdoor swimming. Fed directly by the site's natural geothermal spring, it is the only lido in England heated by natural spring water, with temperatures naturally ranging from around 15°C in winter to 23°C in summer.

Stretching an impressive 40 yards, the pool has welcomed generations of swimmers and retains much of its original 1930s character. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and the dramatic limestone scenery of Matlock Bath, the chlorine-free spring water provides a unique setting for our Swim Safe sessions. The natural spring water creates an unforgettable environment in which children can build confidence in the water while learning essential water safety skills.

Venue Information

When you arrive at The New Bath Hotel & Spa, please make your way to the pool reception area, where our Swim Safe team will be ready to welcome you and direct you to the session area.

For comfort and safety during the dry-side activities, we recommend wearing old trainers.

Parking

Complimentary onsite parking is available for participants attending Swim Safe sessions. During busy periods, we recommend allowing a little extra time to park and make your way to the registration area before your session begins.

Getting Here by Public Transport

If travelling by public transport, the nearest bus stop is located just outside the venue on the A6, approximately a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Regular bus services operate between Derby, Bakewell and Buxton.

The nearest train station is:

Matlock Bath Station – approximately 1 mile (20 minutes' walk) from the venue.
