Exciting opportunity to join the Swim Safe team

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Swim Safe Board.

The purpose of the Swim Safe Board is to ensure the delivery of the Swim Safe vision: Every child across the UK and Ireland will have access to a Swim Safe session.

The Board is looking for a dedicated individual committed to ensuring all children have the opportunity to learn vital water safety skills to join the team as Chair.

The Chair will be integral to the ongoing success of the Swim Safe programme. The successful candidate will provide effective leadership to support the Board to oversee the implementation of the Business Plan, providing advice, guidance and challenge to the Swim Safe Project Manager and Project Management Team.

They will also help to ensure strategies are developed, executed and realistic plans delivered within the boundaries of time, cost, quality, safety and legal considerations.

Will Stephens, Swim Safe Board member and Head of Lifesaving at the RNLI, added: “The new role of Swim Safe Chair will provide effective leadership and subject matter expertise across both the RNLI and Swim England. This is a really exciting time for Swim Safe as we look to deliver at a much Contents larger scale.”

Role of the Swim Safe Chair:

  • Be independent from the RNLI and Swim England but share the values of both organisations.

  • Be an expert in the sector and a Swim Safe champion providing robust, objective, effective leadership.

  • Work closely with the Swim Safe Board members to ensure decisions are acted upon and that Swim Safe is managed effectively and efficiently.

  • Provide support and challenge to the Board to ensure strategies are delivered within the boundaries of time, cost and quality.

The position is a volunteer role and the term of membership is three years from date of appointment.
